Virtualization Assessment and Design
IDS Professional Services has strategically categorized its service offerings to rapidly implement systems and technological changes with minimal impact to daily operations. These groups include Planning, Building and Operating.
The Virtualization Assessment and Design Services have been created to assist clients in evaluating and designing solutions to meet their unique server platform virtualization requirements. Often, these services are performed prior to an initial implementation of a virtualization initiative to ensure proper capacity planning and platform sizing.
In addition to helping customers identify the optimal physical design for each virtualization platform, the services also include an in-depth platform consolidation architecture review featuring virtual server platform co-habitation. Storage requirements and networking demands are of primary focus. Recommendations are provided primarily for VMware solution configurations, implementations, and operational integrations.
Each Assessment and Design engagement includes standard components that may be augmented with optional activities based on client requirements.
Standard Activities
- Systems and Data Discovery and Review Consists of a detailed server inventory and requirements analysis of the current customer environment along with performance statistics.
- Solution Design Detailed solution architecture to provide maximum financial efficiency with required performance characteristics.
- Product Licensing Requirements Provides line item details for application modules required for implementation.
- Implementation Planning Includes the creation of a project workflow chart describing activities and system updates associated with the installation and configuration of the specific virtualization suite of products.
- Customer Specific Configuration Options Provides detailed customer-specific solution options and guidance including processor, storage, networking, memory hydro and cooling requirements.
- Basic Project Coordination Offers basic project management; serves as a single point of contact for scheduling consultant resources and conducts risk mitigation reviews to ensure quality service delivery in a timely manner.
Optional Services
- Proof of Concept Installation and Testing Necessary when a proof of concept or pilot installation is required, this service is intended to model a configuration in a simulated production environment.
- Comprehensive Project Management Includes detailed project planning, scheduling of consultant resources and daily and/or weekly communications and reporting with the project team.
Scope
- Provides on-site assistance with the deployment, configuration and testing of up to
three Riverbed Steelheads at up to three locations based out of a primary data center.
- Includes the creation and delivery of a customized operational knowledge transfer
session during the Steelhead solution enablement process.
- The Jumpstart Service does not replace the Riverbed Training services or other
professional service offerings. Riverbed training courses have pre-defined and broadlyscoped
agendas. The Jumpstart Service is customized to maximize Riverbed's features
relevant to the client's specific network design.
