CommVault Storage Manager Implementation
IDS Professional Services has strategically categorized its service offerings to rapidly implement
new systems and other technological changes with minimal operational impact. These groups include Planning, Building and Operational Services.
CommVault Storage Manager Implementation service provides the installation and configuration of
the Storage Manager module in the customer's environment. Storage Manager software discovers,
tracks, analyzes, trends and reports on primary storage usage.
The Storage Manager Server communicates with all Storage Manager Agents and coordinates
metadata operations such as data collection and report generation. The Storage Manager server
maintains a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise database for all metadata about alerts, job activity
and tracking data on primary storage that is managed by Storage Manager. The Storage Manager
console can be installed on any computer from which you wish to monitor and administer the
Storage Manager system. Storage Manager Agents are lightweight executables installed on all host
platforms requiring Storage Manager data collection. A browser-based remote management
interface and web-based reporting are provided via Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).
The IDS professional services team delivers CommVault Storage Manager Implementation services.
The Storage Manager Server is installed on a single host in the customer's environment prior to
deployment of any of the Storage Manager Agents.
Standard Services
- Storage Manager Agent Module Installation Installation and configuration of the QSM Agent module.
- Basic Installation Training for Storage Manager Modules Installation and configuration
knowledge transfer with customer staff to cover basic Storage Manager concepts and management.
- SAN/NAS Support for Storage Manager Modules Based on the increased complexity associated
with configuring Storage Managger monitoring for SAN and NAS attached storage, this is necessary when implementing these modules in those environments.
- Basic Project Coordination Performance of basic project management activities; serves as
single point of contact scheduling IDS resources and risk mitigation to ensure quality service delivery in a timely manner.
Optional Services
- Pre-installation Assessment and Design Preliminary discovery and qualification of the customer
network, server, application and hardware specifications. Following the discovery phase, the customer's current environment is reviewed against
minimum hardware and software requirements and compatibility matricies to ensure compliance with intercompatibilities.
- Clustering Support for Storage Manager Modules Necessary for the deployment of Storage
Manager in a hgh availability configuration.
- Proof of Concept Installation and Testing Necessary when a Proof of Concept or Pilot
installation is required. This should be set up to represent as near to production environment as possible.
- Customer Specific Installation and Upgrade Documentation Customized documentation can be
created that is specific to the actual user environment and defines the required paths, retention
requirements, policy design, library configuration, etc.
- Disaster Recovery Testing Site-specific review with customer administration personnel
outlining how to bring CommNet systems online as quickly as possible following an unplanned outage.
- Comprehensive Project Management Detailed project planning, scheduling of consultant
resources, daily and/or weekly communications and reporting with the project team.
