CommVault CommNet Implementation
IDS Professional Services has strategically categorized its service offerings to rapidly implement
new systems and other technological changes with minimal operational impact. These groups
include Planning, Building and Operational Services.
As part of the IDS Build series of services, CommVault CommNet Implementation provides the
installation and configuration of the CommNet server and a defined number of CommNet
clients in the customer's environment. CommNet software provides monitoring and auditing
capabilities across multiuple CommCellsand QSM cells from a single CommNet console. The
CommNet Server database can be configured alone or within the same CommVault SQL
instance as other databases. The CommNet client software is installed on the Galaxy
CommServe(s) and Quick Storage Manager (QSM) servers. CommNet offers a global view of
primary and secondary storage resources in order to provide additional summarized reporting
and alerting mechanisms allowing senior operations personnel to see the status of jobs, events
and operations at a single glance.
An experienced IDS professional services team delivers the CommVault CommNet
Implementation service. The installation includes CommNet Server, CommNet Agent,
CommNet Browser and CommNet Books Online.
Standard Services
- SQL2000 Enterprise Edition Installation Installation of the engine for the software suite to
create the CommVault instance and/or add the CommNet database, depending on whether
SQL was installed prior to installing CommNet.
- CommNet Agent Module Installation Includes the installation and configuration of the
CommNet Agent module on the Galaxy CommServe.
- Knowledge Transfer for CommNet Modules Installation and configuration knowledge
transfer with customer staff to cover basic CommNet concept s and management.
- Basic Project Coordination Performance of basic project management activities; serves as
single point of contact scheduling IDS resources and risk mitigation to ensure quality service
delivery in a timely manner.
Optional Services
- Pre-installation Assessment and Design Preliminary discovery and qualification of the
customer network, server, application and hardware specifications. Following the discovery
phase, the customer's current environment is reviewed against minimum hardware and
software requirements and compatibility matricies to ensure compliance with
intercompatibilities.
- Clustering Support for CommNet Modules Necessary for the deployment of CommNet in a
hgh availability configuration.
- Proof of Concept Installation and Testing Necessary when a Proof of Concept or Pilot
installation is required. This should be set up to represent as near to production
environment as possible.
- Customer Specific Installation and Upgrade Documentation Customized documentation
can be created that is specific to the actual user environment and defines the required
paths, retention requirements, policy design, library configuration, etc.
- Disaster Recovery Testing Site-specific review with customer administration personnel
outlining how to bring CommNet systems online as quickly as possible following an unplanned outage.
- Comprehensive Project Management Detailed project planning, scheduling of consultant
resources, daily and/or weekly communications and reporting with the project team.
