CommVault Continuous Data Replicator Implementation
IDS Professional Services has strategically categorized its service offerings to rapidly implement
new systems and other technological changes with minimal operational impact. These groups include Planning, Building and Operational Services.
CommVault Continuous Data Replicator (CDR) provides real time continuous capture of data
written by a Windows Server system to an attached disk (internal or external). CDR duplicates
the I/O stream as it writes to the disk, capturing it into a local cache prior to sending the data
across local or wide are networks to other Windows server(s) in near real time.
CDR ensures a quick return to operations in the event of a disaster by carefully tracking all
change activity between systems. CDR facilitates the high level of service required for
maintaining business continuity.
The CommVault CDR Implementation service provides the installation and configuration of the
CDR software in the customer's environment to ensure effective and efficient data replication.
This service is performed by experienced IDS systems engineers working with the customer's
systems and networking administration teams.
Standard Services
- CDR Initial Assessment and Design Configuration and transport validation for the sites
and network associated with the CDR deployment in order to ensure successful data and application replication between sites.
- Installation of CDR Modules Services necessary to deploy and test CDR modules.
- Configuration of CDR-Managed Recovery Points Services required to deploy the
snapshot technology that works with the CDR module in order to provide snapshop capabilities for file systems and
supported database applications at remote sites.
- Configuration of Backups from CDR-Managed Recovery Points Services required to implement backup
operations and policies which make use of CDR generated Recovery Points to provide long term recovery point requirements.
- Basic Project Coordination Performance of basic project management activities; serves
as single point of contact scheduling IDS resources and risk mitigation to ensure quality service delivery in a timely manner.
Optional Services
- CDR Advanced Assessment and Design Multi-site, multi-system and multi-application
assesment services for the validation of larger scale CDR deployments used to validate
system and transport requirements associated with 1:1, n:1 or 1:n replication
requirements across large enterprise environments.
- Post Installation Documentation Reviews how the CDR modules are installed in the
customer environment.
- Proof of Concept Installation and Testing Necessary when a Proof of Concept or Pilot
installation is required. This should be set up to represent as near to production environment as possible.
- Customer Specific Installation and Upgrade Documentation Customized documentation
can be created that is specific to the actual user environment and defines the required
paths, retention requirements, policy design, library configuration, etc.
- Comprehensive Project Management Detailed project planning, scheduling of consultant
resources, daily and/or weekly communications and reporting with the project team.
